The Komazawa University Institute of Journalism and Policy Studies (KJPS) is a research institute based at Komazawa University's Fukasawa Campus. It consists of faculty members, students, researchers, and instructors who give lectures and guidance.
KJPS aims to conduct comprehensive research on journalism and policy and provide special guidance to students who wish to enter related fields. Research results are published annually in the Institute's Annual Report and other publications. Special guidance consists of two main components: lectures by researchers and instructors and self-directed independent study by student trainees.
In the "KJPS Lectures," researchers and instructors consisting of current and former employees of newspapers, TV stations, and publishing companies and freelance journalists give various lectures to answer students' interests. Lectures are open to students of the university, the general public, and other university students.
On the other hand, as for autonomous learning by students, each department of student trainees voluntarily publishes newspapers and magazines, produces videos, and engages in debate activities. The Komadai Sports Newspaper, which has an annual circulation of over 50,000 and is one of the leading university sports newspapers, is also a part of this study.
With various other programs, such as public lectures and seminars, we at KJPS hope to think about journalism and policy in the rapidly changing media environment and nurture the next generation who will live in the future.
We hope that young people who will grow up in today's information and media age will join our institute and play an active role in the future.
