1882 | The Sendan-Rin School is moved to Azabu and reorganized in the form of a modern university administered by the Soto School of Buddhism. 1882 is officially designated as the foundation year of Komazawa University. |
1905 | The Sendan-Rin School is renamed Soto-shu University. |
1925 | Soto-shu University is renamed Komazawa University. |
1949 | Komazawa University opens the Faculties of Buddhism, Letters, Commerce, and Economics. |
1950 | Komazawa Junior College is established. The College has a Department of Buddhism and an Evening Degree Program. |
1952 | Komazawa University establishes the Faculty of Commerce and Economics and the Evening Degree Program. In the same year the university establishes the Graduate Division of Arts and Sciences. The graduate division offers Master's Degree Programs in Buddhism, Japanese Literature, and Sociology. |
1957 | The Graduate Division of Arts and Sciences inaugurates its Doctoral Degree Program in Buddhism. |
1962 | Celebration of the eightieth anniversary of Komazawa University. The Komazawa Junior College establishes the Department of Japanese Literature and the Department of English Language and Literature. |
1964 | Komazawa University opens its Faculty of Law. The university opens its Komazawa University Hokkaido College of General Education in Iwamizawa. |
1965 | The Faculty of Commerce and Economics is renamed the Faculty of Economics. |
1966 | The Graduate Division of Commerce opens, offering a Master's Degree Program in Commerce.
